Gaia-X has been instrumental in developing trust frameworks that support open collaboration, security, data protection, and digital sovereignty across Europe’s cloud ecosystem. However, to fully realise their value and accelerate the adoption of scalable, distributed cloud solutions, these frameworks must now be actively implemented.
CISPE has built a strong reputation for turning principles into action, creating practical tools and frameworks that enable cloud infrastructure service providers to confidently meet complex compliance requirements.
Today, we are proud to announce the next step: a new collaboration between CISPE and Gaia-X to deliver up to 3,000 European cloud infrastructure services compliant with Gaia-X Trust Framework and Label specifications, available for deployment by November 2025.
This initiative is open to all cloud service providers (CSPs) – not only CISPE members. Any CSP can submit products for inclusion in the CISPE catalogue. Services that meet Gaia-X requirements will be listed and will automatically qualify for Gaia-X Labels (Levels 1, 2, or 3), increasing their visibility and credibility within the European market.
By actively referencing these Gaia-X-compliant services in the CISPE catalogue, we aim to streamline procurement processes, making it easier and faster for customers to identify and integrate trusted cloud services into their environments.
In partnership with Gaia-X and Cloud Data Engine (CDE) – contracted by CISPE to operate the catalogue – we invite CSPs to help achieve this shared goal of making 3,000 trusted services from European providers available by November 2025.
How to Participate
To join the initiative, CSPs simply need to declare at least one cloud service that complies with at least one of the following standards, either through self-assessment or certification by a recognised Conformity Assessment Body (CAB):
- CISPE’s 10 Fair Software Licensing Principles
- C5 (Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue)
- CISPE Data Protection Code of Conduct
- Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact
- EU Cloud Code of Conduct (EU Cloud CoC)
- SecNumCloud
- CISPE Portability Framework
We believe that this practical project with defined outcomes is essential to deliver on the promise and value of Gaia-X. Promoting delivering verifiable credentials, and making them accessible in this way, is an important foundation for enhancing transparency, trust and compliance within the European cloud landscape. As such it is a critical element in the creation of interoperable, portable and federated cloud infrastructures which will support strategic autonomy and digital sovereignty.
