CISPE Accelerates Adoption of Gaia-X Labels with Integration of CISPE Clearing House

Mar 20, 2025 | Press release

Brussels, March 20th – CISPE (Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe) and Gaia-X announce the integration of the CISPE Gaia-X Digital Clearing House into the Gaia-X ecosystem. This important step allows cloud customers to select and purchase services with proven conformity to policies outlined in the Gaia-X Compliance Document (24.11 Release). Delivering verifiable credentials in this way is an important foundation for enhancing transparency, trust and compliance within the European cloud landscape. As such it is a critical element in the creation of interoperable, portable and federated cloud infrastructures which will support strategic autonomy and digital sovereignty.

Customers must have the ability to run the software and services they need in the clouds of their choice. The CISPE Clearing House allows members and third-parties to declare any and all services that comply with Gaia-X standards on security, data protection, sovereignty and many other key parameters in ways that make it easy for customers to find and select them for composition as part of cloud solutions. CISPE has already embarked on the process of reproducing the hundreds of Gaia-X compliant services from its cloud services catalogue in the CISPE Clearing House. The ambition is to have more than one-thousand services in the Clearing House, available for purchase from dozens of vendors, by Q3 2025.

CISPE also calls on customers, for their part, to ensure that compliance with Gaia-X labels is included in cloud procurement tenders. It estimates that if just 10 per cent of European Cloud procurements specified use of Gaia-X labels, this could add Euro 20 billion to the European cloud economy.

Francisco Mingorance, Secretary General of CISPE said: “The CISPE Clearing House is critical to leverage the value of Gaia-X Labels and support the creation of interoperable, portable and federated cloud infrastructures to deliver strategic autonomy and create competitive offerings under European Control.”

As a founding member of Gaia-X, CISPE has played a pivotal role in aligning cloud providers with the expectations of cloud users within Gaia-X working groups and its broader community. “Gaia-X ASIBL will encourage all users across its European ecosystem and national hubs to rely on trusted cloud services that meet Gaia-X Label requirements, particularly in matters of sovereignty,” said Ulrich Ahle, CEO of Gaia-X“This collaboration ensures that cloud customers can demand Gaia-X Labels in their RFPs, driving wider adoption and compliance.”
